Circum-navegação em família, a viagem que não chega ao fim!

The journey began long before we sailed to the infinite blue, because dreaming, planning and building is already part of the journey. At this stage we were already invaded by the excitement, already feelling the taste of what was about to come. And when does it end? It was certainly not in the day we returned to the Marina of Ponta Delgada, almost two years after the departure, because a month after that date we still live for it, we live connected to this trip that is not limited to the action of circumnavigating the world with children, is bigger, it is an inner journey, of overcoming physical, psychological and social limits. It is a trip that is still going on and with so much to give us and those around us. We had the invitation of the Clube Naval de Ponta Delgada and two schools to tell our story. We will try to inspire the participants in the Space Apps Challenge, an international competition hosted by NASA here at NONAGON in Lagoa 🙂 and there is more to come!
We live in times of joy, filled with re-encounters with friends, with the family, with those who traveled with us through the blog, with people we inspire and touched us so much. We are daily confronted with the grown-up children, the restored buildings, the restaurants filled with tourists, with the island that has also changed. It is good to see how, at least for now, local accommodation overlaps the construction of large hotels, the Government betting on sustainable development, the incinerator that has not advanced, the Tremor that could already be called Earthquake! It is not difficult to adapt to earth life, which although more complex than life at sea, is also more filled with comfort and friendly hands. Benita and Leonardo go hand in hand to the school they have chosen and come back sweaty with joy and news to tell. We, adults, digest slower, we’re glad to be back but still not sure which way we want to go. The journey, which will be forever inside us, is still throbbing. We are excited to tell the stories and think for ourselves about certain experiences that have made us grow. We perceive more and more the dimension of what happened to us, or rather what we made happen! Jules, the septuagenarian English friend, born in Eritrea, whom we met in Sudan, and who made with us the last crossing of this circum-navigation said “you have not come into this world to face reality, you have come to create reality ! “. Wise words, friend Jules, we are responsible for our reality, however strange and painful this may seem at times, this gives us immense power. Now, we believe, we can make everything happen, starting by dreaming!!
